About: Overseeing 500-hectares (1,236 acres) of vineyards, the winery is located at the foot of the Andes, a place of unsurpassed beauty. Finca La Celia was born in 1882, year in which Eugenio Bustos, its founder, decides to move south of the river Tunuyán in order to develop an estate which, among other things, had a low altitude pass that bordered the neighboring Republic of Chile. This pass was used to herd cattle to the port of San Antonio. The construction of the winery starts in 1890, being the first one to settle in the Uco Valley. Later, Celia Bustos, Eugenio´s daughter, inherited the property. She, with her strong personality and leadership, works these lands, converting them into prosperous vineyards. In 2000, Finca La Celia was acquired by the Viña San Pedro Tarapacá Wine Group, leading company in the wine business both in Chile and Argentina. Thus, the winery has been expanded, renovated and equipped with state of the art technology made in France and Italy, combining classical architecture and modern machinery.

About: Over the past decade, Ksara has seen the introduction of new grape varieties that have grown into vines the Bekaa valley has blissfully nurtured. Ksara has also seen developments in technique such as vines cultivation on wires and the attentive application of advanced science by French oenologists, who watch over the vinification, fermentation and decanting processes.

Our Vineyards
All of Ksara’s vineyards are located in the central and western Bekaa Valley. At an average altitude of 1,000 meters, the Bekaa enjoys dry summers and has the added bonus of its own natural water table, courtesy of the melting snow that runs off the slopes of the Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon mountain ranges.

The soil ranges from chalk, to clay and chalk, to clay and lime, but it is always stony. The Bekaa enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with heavy rains and snow in the winter, a mild spring and a dry – in some cases very dry – hot summer. The slope on either side of the valley and the valley itself create a unique micro-climate in which the cool nights compensate for the hot summer days.

This treasure trove dates back to the nineteenth century when Abel Tesseron acquired this property and began his collection of rare and priceless cognacs. A tradition continued by his son and grandson Alfred, who runs the business today and who also owns the prestigious Château Pontet-Canet, a Pauillac Classified Growth in 1855. Abel Tesseron created his own cognac company in 1905, relying at the time on two separate estates, one situated in the Grande Champagne area (Boneuil) and the other in Petite Champagne (Saint-Surin). He adopted a long term policy of building up stocks of eaux-de-vie, carefully conserved in a twelfth century crypt. These old and rare treasures, besides achieving a great reputation amongst a small circle of connoisseurs, have always been sought after by the big cognac merchants, assured of the fine quality of the eaux-de-vie they would use to complete their blends. Today, thanks to a continual and ever increasing demand, the company is selling more and more of its cognacs under the Tesseron name. The cognacs within the Tesseron range are specifically labelled as ‘lots’, a term rarely used in Charente. In 1967, the bottling unit is inaugurated in Montreuil-Bellay. In order to enrich its distributing system, Joseph Verdier Company widened out its production by buying some trading companies in 1990. One of them is situated in Saumur, and the other one in the centre of France. In 1978 the entire complex was bought by the Nannoni-Masti family. The important turning point in the managing of the property came in 2000 when Valentina Masti and her husband, Simone Priami decided to move to San Pancrazio and personally run the Fattoria. Their passion and love of the land and the property is the base of an important project of revaluation and development of the family estate: The Villa has been splendidly restored and the vines renewed.
